Keep your shirt on …and your pants

We just stopped reeling from the news that former Gov. Eliot Spitzer paid high amounts of money to spend time with call girls when we got the feeling of déjà vu all over again as new Gov. David Paterson said that he too broke the marriage vow.

Less than 24 hours after being sworn in, Paterson held a news conference to answer news reports of infidelity. Yes, he had an affair, and yes, so did his wife.

For the new governor, it wasn’t just one affair but several. But at the news conference, he said everything is patched up between him and his wife.

“We were very much in love with each other when we got married, we’re very much in love with each other now. I was in love with Michelle even when I knew the marriage was in grave danger. The fact is, for my own actions, I was angry, I was jealous and I exercised poor judgment.”

We take him at his word, but to ensure against future acts of impropriety in the love sector, perhaps a chastity belt would not be out of the question.
