Celebrating life, success and colleagues

Photos by Sarah Merians Photography

Some 500 people gathered to “Celebrate Life, Celebrate Success, Celebrate Survivors” at the American Cancer Society’s “diamond” luncheon May 30 at The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester in White Plains.

The society honored three cancer survivors: corporate honoree Elizabeth Bracken-Thompson of Croton-on-Hudson, executive vice president and partner at Thompson & Bender Inc. in Briarcliff Manor; and volunteer honorees Harold Debrovner of White Plains and Muffin Gleason Hamm of Mount Vernon.

Lee Goldberg, chief meteorologist for ABC 7 Eyewitness News was the master of ceremonies. Dr. Patricia Carrigan, an American Cancer Society ambassador cancer researcher, was the guest speaker. Carrigan has published a number of reports in medical journals and is currently focusing on identifying early detection biomarkers for pancreatic, colon and breast cancer.

Before the luncheon, guests built up their appetites with a shopping spree at a boutique of 45 specialty vendors.

The event’s sponsors included Boe@324; Cappelli Enterprises; Classic Kitchens; Diversified Investment Advisors; Filene’s Basement; Fortunoff; and Waterworks.
