Author, author!

Yonkers author Gail Farrelly will be signing copies of “Carols and Crimes, Gifts and Grifters” from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Womrath Bookshop on Pondfield Road in Bronxville. The book is a collection of 15 mystery short stories one by Farrelly published by Wolfmont Publishing. Profits from sales will benefit the Toys for Tots Foundation. Edgar Award-winning author Thomas H. Cook, who also penned one of the stories, will sign copies along with Farrelly. She says of Cook: “He’s an icon in mystery writing. I can’t wait to meet him in person and I’m guessing that many people in Westchester will feel the same way.” Thomas won the 1996 Edgar for “The Chatham School Affair.”

Tomorrow’s Westchester

A three-person panel was invited by the United Jewish Appeal-Federation of New York to discuss an insider’s look at tomorrow’s Westchester with an audience in White Plains Oct. 9.

Marsha Gordon, president and CEO of The Business Council of Westchester, Janet Langsam, executive director of the Westchester Arts Council and Susan Tolchin, chief advisor to County Executive Andy Spano, discussed the future of the county and held a brief question and answer session.

The panel addressed issues concerning the quality of life for an increasing immigrant population and seniors, the arts community and an evolving business landscape that has seen an increase of small- and medium-sized companies.
