Celebrating Italy for a good cause

From left, Kim and Stew Leonard and Lidia Bastianich

On Sept. 23, Stew Leonard celebrated Italy with his paisana Lidia Bastianich at the inaugural Stew Leonard III’s Children’s Charities Food and Wine tasting event. With more than 50 award-winning wines from Piedmont to Sicily, and a spread of Lidia’s molto bene cuisine, it felt like a family reunion in the old country. Sponsored by American Express, Bank of America and Southern Wine and Spirits, all proceeds from the event went toward the swimming program at the Yonkers YMCA as well as the publishing of the foundation’s books on swim safety.

Passing GO has never been so philanthropic

Rich Uncle Pennybags the Monopoly guy is moving to Yonkers and he’s inviting you to play the latest version of his game. YONKERSopoly, a board game created by St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers is the latest fundraising effort of the hospital.

The game will feature Westchester businesses and organizations, all who bought “property” space on the board for $500 a pop (and they didn’t pay in monopoly money). YONKERSopoly will be sold during the holiday season at the hospital as well as at local businesses. All Proceeds will go to the medical center.
