10th annual Tuskegee Airmen dinner dance
at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor

 

The College of Westchester in White Plains sponsored the 10th annual Tuskegee Airmen dinner dance at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor, Feb. 2. Ten students from Westchester County and the Hudson Valley were awarded scholarships to continue their education. Twelve original members of the Tuskegee Airmen were also present and celebrated with more than 500 guests. read more

Recent Faces:

 

A community-based, multicounty visiting nurse service, Dominican Sisters Family Health Service (DSFHS), provides home health care through its certified home health care program, long-term home health care, AIDS home care program and unique nonmedical outreach programs. For the past 15 years the service has hosted the Mary Higgins Clark Luncheon and Book Signing. Its 2007 event was held, Nov. 6, at the Abigail Kirsch Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown. Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter, Carol Higgins Clark, were the featured speakers while Mike Bennett of WHUD radio was the master of ceremonies. More than 325 guests attended and nearly $123,000 was raised. Here are a few of the guests.

 

Founded by John D. Rockefeller Jr. more than 55 years ago, Tarrytown-based Historic Hudson Valley, a private, nonprofit education and preservation organization, encompasses six National Historic Landmarks: Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving’s Sunnyside in Tarrytown, Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson, The Union Church of Pocantico Hills in Pocantico Hills, Montgomery Place in Annandale-on-Hudson and Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate, in Pocantico Hills.

 

Annual Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Reunionof the White Plains Hospital Center

It brought a record number of 650 parents and their children who had spent time in the unit after birth. The NICU was opened in 1993 and was the first for the hospital as well as the first in the county.

 

The Partnership for the Huguenot Children’s Library (PHCL)

celebrated its 10th anniversary with a gala at The Fountainhead in New Rochelle, Nov. The partnership is committed to inspiring children to a life-long love of reading and learning.

 

New York Medical College honored three individuals for their contributions

to health care through research, leadership and service to the community at its annual Founders’ Dinner fundraiser, which was held Oct. 13 at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.

 

March of Dimes Real Estate Award Breakfast

Louis R. Cappelli (center), will be the 2007 honoree for the March of Dimes Real Estate Award Breakfast scheduled for Dec. 20 at the new Ritz-Carlton in White Plains. Cappelli is pictured during a recent visit to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at White Plains Hospital Center with Patricia Valenti, chair of the real estate award breakfast and Dr. Jesus Jaile-Marti, chief of the hospital’s neonatology division.

 

Support Connection’s 13th Annual Support-A-Walk

attracted close to 9,000 participants Sunday, Sept. 30, at FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights, to help raise awareness about breast and ovarian cancer and raise funds for the organization’s efforts.

 

A Night in the Woods

More than $500,000 was raised for Ossining-based Teatown at its benefit gala “A Night in the Woods,” held at the Trump National Golf Course in Briarcliff.
