WJCS honors home health-care aides

To recognize the 60th anniversary of its Home Health Care Division, Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) held an “appreciation tea” at its White Plains headquarters for its home health aides.

Celebrating November as National Home Care Month, WJCS joins the New York State Association of Health Care Providers Inc. in honoring home care workers.

“Home care workers play a crucial role in helping patients stay in the comfort of their own homes to receive the care they need,” said Sheila Rabideau, a registered nurse and WJCS assistant executive director.

 

Increasingly, home care is emerging as a core part of the health care continuum and is being recognized as the most affordable, cost-effective way to deliver a wide range of health care services to patients, she said.

“WJCS values our home health-care workers for the selfless contributions they make to patients and their families. We are fortunate to have a dedicated corps of home care workers who set the gold standard in the field.”

In recognition of the 60th anniversary, County Executive Andy Spano declared Nov. 8 as WJCS Home Health Service Day in the county. The agency also received a proclamation from U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey honoring the accomplishments of its home health-care workers.
