Dr. Karen Lawrence was appointed president of Sarah Lawrence College, Yonkers. Since 1998, Lawrence was dean of the School of Humanities and a professor of English and comparative literature at the University of California at Irvine. From 1989 to 1997, she was a professor of English at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. From 1984 to 1989, she was chair of the university’s English department. She joined the faculty at the University of Utah in 1978. Lawrence holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Yale University, a Master of Arts degree in English from Tufts University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in English from Columbia University.

Ronald J. Gentile was appointed president and chief executive officer of USA Bank, Port Chester. Since 2004, Gentile was president and CEO of Community Bank of Orange N.A., Middletown. From 1990 to 2004, he was president and chief operating officer of The Warwick Savings Bank, Warwick. He was also president and chief operating officer of Warwick Community Bancorp from 1997 to 2004.

Manuel Andrade of Suffern was promoted president of Kenneth Irving Architect P.C., Pleasantville, an architectural firm. Since 1995, Andrade was vice president. He joined the firm in 1985. Andrade holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the New York Institute of Technology.

The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, Mount Kisco, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the service of all youth, announced the appointment of the following individuals to its board of directors.

Jennifer Anderson of Yorktown, chief financial officer of Kendal on Hudson, Sleepy Hollow, a not-for-profit continuing-care retirement community, joined the board. Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree from Mercy College.

Thomas E. O’Neil of Pound Ridge, executive vice president of Kinloch Holdings Inc., New York City, an insurance brokerage holding company, joined the board.
