New drugstore in town

Walgreens Drug Stores plans to open a new-built 14,500-square-foot retail location on Route 22 in Eastchester. The building site is visible behind a chain-link fence south of the Four Corners intersection. The scheduled opening is January 2008.

The store will hire 25 new workers, according to Carol Hively, Walgreens’ corporate spokeswoman. The store manager will be a seasoned hand from within the organization.

Hively said the store will offer a drive-through pharmacy, prescription services in 14 languages, an extensive photo department and about 25,000 consumer items.

“We’re looking forward to getting to know the community and to being a part of the community,” Hively said.
