Dr. Paulette Sansone of Yonkers, the director of the Schervier Center for Research in Geriatric Care, Bronx, part of Bon Secours New York Health System, received the 2007 Excellence in Research and Education Award from the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, Washington, D.C. Sansone was honored for her work as a principal investigator of research projects focusing on dementia, resident decision-making, advance directives and palliative care.

Westchester Jewish Community Services, White Plains, a not-for-profit mental health, developmental disabilities, health-care and social service agency, presented its 2007 awards to the following employees.

Suzanne Doll of Dumont, N.J., program director of linkages, a juvenile justice program, received the Leonard Rohmer Award for High Professional Accomplishment.

Areta Reid of Mount Vernon, assistant residence manager at Cannon House, a group home for people with developmental disabilities operated by WJCS, received the Batkin Award for Service to People with Developmental Disabilities.

Heidi Weiss of Larchmont, a social worker in Pathways to Care, a WJCS program that provides support to individuals and families who are dealing with chronic or terminal illness, was named Employee of the Year.

Marjorie McDonald of the Bronx, a certified home health aide, was named Home Health Aide of the Year.

Ginsburg Development Cos. (GDS), Valhalla, a community developer, was ranked number 141 on the 2006 “Giant 400” list of the nation’s top home builders by Professional Builder magazine, based on total sales revenues. GDS had 348 sales resulting in $196.6 million in revenues last year.

United Hebrew Geriatric Center (UHGC), New Rochelle, a not-for-profit senior living campus, announced that it has been awarded a $350,000 challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation, Troy, Mich., for UHGC’s Campaign for the 21st Century, involving the construction of the Lucile and Joseph Skalet Pavilion and the renovation of the Lola and Saul Kramer Pavilion.

The Thursday Club, a group of 38 philanthropic women from the Hudson River villages, announced that it raised more than $90,000 at its annual dinner-dance, held at Tarrytown House, Tarrytown, to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester’s Tarrytown Center.

Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, White Plains, a provider of free civil legal services to low-income individuals, received a $5,000 grant from St. Faith’s House Foundation to support its children’s advocacy and family law unit.
