Dan Berta of Ossining was appointed executive vice president of retail banking and strategic planning at Fairfield County Bank, Ridgefield, Conn. Most recently, Berta was senior vice president, retail market manager at JPMorgan Chase. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia University.

Melissa Hoglund of Bedford joined Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) , Mount Kisco, as president of the NWH Foundation and senior vice president for external affairs. Most recently, Hoglund was director of the annual fund and communications at Rippowam Cisqua School, Bedford. Prior to that, she was a freelance writer specializing in communications for nonprofit institutions. Hoglund holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Princeton University.

James F. Castro-Blanco of Yonkers joined the White Plains office of the law firm Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker L.L.P. as of counsel. Most recently, Castro-Blanco operated his own law firm, The Law Office of James F. Castro-Blanco, in Yonkers. Prior to that, he was director of associate relations at Fried, Frank, Harris Shriver & Jacobson L.L.P. Before that, he worked at Shearman & Sterling L.L.P., culminating as manager of professional development and training and initially as manager of associate development. Castro-Blanco holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Albany and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Brooklyn Law School.

Lisa Deutsch of Armonk was appointed director of outreach and communications at Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Yorktown Heights, a guide dog training school. Most recently, Deutsch was marketing director at Treasure Trove Inc., New Canaan, Conn. Prior to that, she worked at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, White Plains, culminating as executive director and initially as director of development and marketing. Before that, she was executive director of the Westchester Philharmonic, Hartsdale. Earlier, she was cultural affairs manager at Westchester Community College, Valhalla. Deutsch holds a bachelor's degree in international business from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration degree in marketing from New York University.

Kevin J. Arquit of Harrison, a partner at the law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett L.L.P., New York City, was appointed chairman of the board of directors of Children for Children, New York City, a nonprofit organization that promotes youth volunteering and giving programs. Arquit holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Lawrence University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Cornell University.

Corinne Stanton-Procopis of Somers, a media consultant at Guide Communications, Brewster, a publisher of local telephone books and community lifestyle magazines, was named president of the Somers Chamber of Commerce, Somers. Stanton-Procopis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
